A bespoke multi-elevation scaffold design providing safe access around one of London’s most prestigious historic hotels.

Brown’s Hotel is one of Mayfair’s most recognisable luxury destinations, with a history stretching back to the 1830s. Formed from a collection of historic Georgian townhouses, the hotel has welcomed generations of prominent guests while continuing to operate as a prestigious five-star destination in the heart of London.

IE Access was appointed to deliver the temporary access scaffolding required for construction works at the hotel. The project involved complex access requirements across multiple elevations, all within a busy, fully operational environment where guest access, pedestrian movement and the day-to-day running of the hotel needed to be carefully considered. IE Access described the scheme as involving tight timelines, demanding access challenges and no room for error.

Pyramid Scaffold Design produced the detailed engineering drawings supporting the scaffold installation. With four elevations being scaffolded simultaneously, the design needed to provide safe and practical working access while responding to the building’s historic façade, restricted urban setting and significant wind-loading considerations. Public project information indicates that conventional scaffold ties were unsuitable, requiring a more carefully engineered approach to stability and restraint.

Close coordination between Pyramid and IE Access helped translate the technical design into a safe, buildable scaffold solution. The resulting structure provided fully boarded working areas for the project team while maintaining the precision and professional presentation expected at one of London’s best-known luxury hotels.
